Decision-Making of Children and Parenting Time

Two fundamental areas of law affecting your children’s lives arise upon the breakdown of a marriage or relationship:

  1. Decision-making responsibility.
  2. The exercise of parenting time.

In the event parents cannot come to an agreement, the court has broad powers to allocate decision-making responsibility, whether it be joint between parents, or sole to one parent, based on the best interests of the child test.

The court also has broad powers to impose a parenting time schedule, provide means of communication and make other ancillary orders in a child’s best interests.

River Law has nearly a decade of experience representing parents in decision-making and parenting time disputes and will diligently advise and represent you in this area of law.
